Growing up I was lucky to have my father Fritz. He was fearless when it came to getting things done. When I was 13 we remodeled or house in Rugby North Dakota. We did a full kitchen up date and built a dining room addition. I remember clearly toweling out the concrete for the foundation and floor, cutting into the back of the house, tying in the framing and putting the shingles on. This was back before the spiffy new chopsaws and compressed air tools. I had a skill saw in my hand cutting studs and hand nailing them together.
A few years later we moved to a 40-acre lot on a lake in Northern Minnesota. We lived in a trailer while we cleared the land to build a 3-car garage with a shop and the custom 3-story home with daylight basement, decking hot tub and heated pool. We also renovated one of the original log cabins into a guesthouse complete with re-chinked logs, new windows, roof, wood stove and screened in porch.
I’m a bit older now and am just as fearless as my dad was. Most recently I worked in Portland for The Kaiser group. In my 5-year tenure with this developer I rose to Project Manager. While still self-performing a lot of phases, I was responsible for lining up sub-contractors, taking bids, estimating, scheduling and supervising residential and commercial remodels, and Tenant Improvements. We also built several new custom homes from the ground up. During this time I developed strong relationships with a great team of sub-contractors here in Portland.
I started Congdon Contracting in the spring of 2008. I have worked on some great projects, and developed strong client relationships. I am ready and excited to share this experience and my team with you on your project.
